Did Somebody Say SNOW???

Well, the phone beeped at 5:45am to tell us that school was cancelled! I ran down to tell Derrick so that he could go back to bed. He leaves at 6am for seminary, so I was grateful that it came before he left. I am sure that the school district didn't want a repeat of a couple of years ago where they didn't cancel school and then when the big snow came, kids were stranded in Bentonville because the bus couldn't get them home! Even last week, they had limited bus service and Derrick called to tell us that he had 9 kids in his first class and 4 in his second class and the teachers weren't actually teaching since they knew that they would have to go over it all again anyway. They didn't even announce limited bus service until Geno was on his way taking him to seminary, so they just went ahead and went. Lots of parents were calling to complain both times, so I think that they decided to save themselves some problems!!
The funny thing about this snow is that Geno has been counting on snow every time they announce it and then nothing happens. I told him that I will believe it when I actually see it! We are sad that we can't take Noodle sledding, but it is good that they left yesterday or they wouldn't have been leaving for a few days!
I am glad that Geno can walk around today saying "I told you so" since he had to suffer the humiliation of being WRONG AGAIN in a bet with me! Sonic is selling apple bites now. Geno made the comment that our local Sonic had upgraded their sign to a lit up moving display (he used different terms!) rather than the old one where they had to put up the plastic letters. I told him that they must have had extra dipping sauce left over from the cheesecake bites that were featured the last few months. Well, here comes the argument!
Geno: This is different because it is a caramel cinnamon dipping sauce.
Me: No, it is the same. I tried the cheesecakes bites once and didn't care for the caramel sauce since it had cinnamon. I thought it was strange.
Geno: No. I am certain that it was only caramel.
(In the meantime, the 16 year-old who is only working since she wants more clothes, shoes, nail polish, etc. and her parents cut her allowance comes out and brings me my Rt.44 Diet Coke-Easy Ice so that we don't have to wait in the drive-thru line any longer than necessary.)
Geno: I am going to ask her!
Me: Go ahead.
Geno: Is the caramel sauce for the apple bites the same as the caramel sauce for the cheesecake bites.
Sonic girl: (without hesitation) Yes!
Geno: Are you sure, because this is a cinnamon caramel sauce and the cheesecake sauce was just caramel, RIGHT?
Sonic girl: (scared by Geno's forceful use of the word RIGHT and thinking how much she wants those new jeans) Yes.
Me: (sitting over in the passenger seat very smuggly with no doubt in my mind that it is the same!) It is the same. He just can't handle being wrong.
At this time the poor girl leaves.
Geno: I am going to wait and pull up here and ask someone else who knows what they are talking about!
That would have meant that we would have to wait in line anyway!
Me: You have got to be kidding! Just go home and look it up online.
Geno is just certain that he is right and while I am putting away the few groceries that we picked up in case there was a big snow, he runs right into the bedroom to get on the computer. When I come in, he has found the commercial on UTube and there it is right on the commercial.
Need I say more?
So, I am happy that Geno's snow came so that he could redeem himself and be able to say
"I told you so!"
I hope that you can see the flakes falling. When the text came at 5:45am, it was just freezing rain and there wasn't anything on the ground. At 8am when I got up, the ground was covered and little flakes were falling. By 10:30am, there were HUGE flakes falling. And this isn't even the storm that they are forecasting. It is supposed to come this afternoon!
