I LOVE a crafty day! I love it even more when I am finally finishing up the projects I started or giving a new life to items I already have by adding some paint, ribbon, or whatever is needed. I bought three of these photo block kits at our Super Saturday in November. Two are done (and in my defense I didn't get one of the photos because the instructor was one short and would get it to me later. I just remembered when I was ready to make it that I never got the photo!)
This is the LDS Temple in St. Louis, MO where Geno and I were sealed. The photo block now sits on the shelf above our bed.
This is a photo of the Sacred Grove. I used the green ribbon as I want it in my scrapbook room, but I decided to put it on my living room shelves for now.
I had a little hand towel stand sitting on our bathroom counter, but I wasn't pleased with it! First of all, it took up counter space, and I like to keep lots of empty space to have less clutter. Mostly, though, it was sized more for fingertip towels rather than hand towels. All of the hand towels seemed to hang down too far at the bottom and rest on the counter, and it bothered me! So, when I was shopping in the 10/$10 section at Michael's (which is way better than the $1 spot at Target!), I found these cute initial hooks. I had several thoughts of what to do with them, but I finally decided on this:

If you are wondering what my other ideas were, I was thinking they would be cute with photo frames hanging from them with ribbon. I would have gotten the 3 initials for my grandchildren and done that, but it seems that Micheal's no longer makes a "Z" when they do letters. This would be cute in a little girls room with long ribbons attached to "O" rings for hanging hair ribbons. There are way too many things you can do with these! And now that I look at the picture, it seems that Geno's is rather plain. Should I do something to his?
I finally completed the second of my two stitch projects from about 5 years ago! I had thought about giving this for a gift at Christmas and never found the perfect recipient. I got this nice solid wood frame for $2 at the amazing thrift store in Alabaster on the way home from one of our Birmingham trips to the doctor. Just a light coat of red paint and it is ready to hang in my guest bedroom :o)
Yes, I realize that the loose black threads are showing from behind! I didn't want to take it out of the frame again...I was getting frustrated with one part when I was putting it back in! It will bother me, though, and I will take it back out and clip those threads before I have any guests! Now that I look at this, does it need a mat? Black maybe?
So now, my crafty friends...I wanted to put the Q-tips and cotton balls into jars on the bathroom counter so that Geno doesn't have to bend down every morning to get them from under the sink. I am trying to find little ways to help him out with his back issue. I finally decided on these two jars that are the smallest from a set of kitchen canisters I no longer use:

I have answers for you!
for the G, sand the edges a little and rub a gel stain or antiquing medium on it so it looks a little more masculine....just darken the edges a little.
for the containers OH MY...I'm seeing everywhere on blogs where you use E6000 glue (walmart $2 a tube) then get some chunky wooden candlesticks...paint the lids and candlesticks matching color, and glue the candlestick to the bottom. Add a cute knob or drawer pull ($2 hob lob)to the tops (you'll have to drill a hole) and they'll be the cutest little apothecary jars you've ever seen! I've seen it with glass lids and cheap glass candlesticks (helping hands 50 cents) and it's really cute too. But wood painted silver or black looks great.
ok, this is and idea to kind of explain what I'm talking about with the canisters:
