And They're Off...

Mark and Derrick met at the church this morning at 10am to go on a 3 day Pioneer Trek. They had to wear cotton pants and cotton long-sleeved button-up shirts for the entire time. They had cowboy-type Pioneer hats (sort of-They got what I found at Wal-Mart to make do!) They are not making their trek in the snow or going several miles each day, but they are going to be going on some pretty tough terrain and in this heat. They have handcarts that each family will be pushing along filled with their supplies for cooking, their water, and a 5 gallon bucket for each family member filled with their clothes and necessities for the next 3 days. Oh-except tents. They are sleeping out under the stars! It will be an adventure that they will talk about for years to come, I am sure.

Mark's Ma and Pa are Tanya and Randy Murray.

Derrick's family for the next three days is the Thompson family. I haven't met them before and Derrick was just really wanting me to get done taking the picture and leave him alone! Did they have sunglasses back then?

On a completely different note...

What do I do with this???

This is in my scrapbook room on the long wall behind my desk. Up above will be several words that I have painted black and Geno will be hanging up for me (DREAM, INSPIRE, CREATE). These boxes have been in this room since Derrick had it as a bedroom. Since we hung them up with anchors and I didn't want to have to patch the holes, I have painted them to match each decor. What should I do with these boxes? How should I decorate them? I know that there are some very talented decorators out there, so let me hear it! The mini lava lamp can go somewhere else, but I am definitely keeping it ;o)

Wow... a trek in this the heat. My AC just quit in my car so I feel for them. Super cute Pioneer "family picture" :)
I think you should do some Mini Albums and put them in the display boxes! OR showcase a small page OR your Favorite tool of the moment! Easily accessible!

Hey...I just saw this on craigslist and thought of you...not sure if you need another one, but here's the link. It's a 9 cube organizer from target...the kind that holds 12x12 paper, etc. they are asking $30 and it's new in the box. Just wanted to share since I thought you (and lots of other scrappers that read your blog) might bpossibly be interested.

They always have cube wall shelves like that in the pottery barn kids catalogs, and they make them really cute by hanging stuff on the wall around it. You should designate each cube to a person and fill it with things that remind you of that person. Like a framed photo and a childhood toy, or something special they gave you.

I love the idea of displaying mini albums in them.

What about putting cool jars with buttons, ribbons, and other scrapping accessories on the shelves? Or find some little skinny baskets that will sit inside them and stack pre-made birthday and thank you cards, stationary, or small gifts in the baskets. But since you are putting your house on the market you might want to keep it as simple as possible.
