Ok, so I know that I have been MIA as far as blogging is concerned. Moving is crazy and I guess I just really wasn't up for the challenge this time. We were in 7 different states in the five days after we left Arkansas! I have lots of stories, but I will start out with a fresh one.
Geno finally got back from Germany on Friday, July 17. I picked him up at the airport in Atlanta, so I was able to make a quick run through IKEA with the extra time I had. I rushed to the airport so I would be there when he got off the plane, but didn't realize that customs would be an additional 2 hours of waiting on my part!
Of course, we are in the South and there is always some sort of entertainment to be found! When Geno told me that it would be a while, I managed to find a seat in the waiting area. I quickly realized why the previous occupant had abandoned the seat. In front of me was a group of 10-15 people who were apparently camped out there to stalk the WWE wrestlers who were arriving for a match that night. They were carrying WWE backpacks of WWE magazines, action figures, posters, trading cards, shirts...you name it-they had it! I got a perfect shot of the butt crack of the guy in charge of handing out the memorabilia to be signed every time one person would come running back to announce who they spotted in the crowd. They were so shameless as to announce whether the person was being rude about signing so that the children in the group would be sent for the autograph because "surely they won't be rude to a kid!" So, in an attempt to keep myself entertained, too, I started texting Missie about the events. We went back and forth a little bit and then I saw it! It was completely, undeniably staring me in the face. One of the guys doing the chasing (in fact, the one whose butt crack had become my regular view) had a big "Y" on his shirt. Now, most of you reading my blog already know where this is going. Certainly, it had to mean something else! When I got a side view of the sleeve instead of the back, it was totally confirmed. He was wearing a BYU t-shirt. This was a group of Mormons chasing the WWE wrestlers! Great. As if we don't already get a bad enough rap!
Geno and I decided to stay in Atlanta overnight and spend some time together since we hadn't seen each other in two weeks. On Saturday, we ate at The Varsity. Now, if you haven't been there or managed to catch them on the Food Network or Travel channel, this place is amazing! They have something like 24 registers lined up across the front and they are always packed:
Even though we were pretty far back in the line, it moved very quickly and we were sitting down in less than 10 minutes with our yummy chili dogs, chili burgers, fries, rings, and yummy apple and peach pies. Even if this isn't your kind of food, you have to go just for the atmosphere! Oh, and the trademark service of the cashiers is that they are yelling out, "What'll ya have? What'll ya have?"
