Today we changed from this:
To this:
The first picture is a map of the area covering Brian's mission. For the last two years, we have tracked where he was assigned during that time. The two pictures were taken the day he left the MTC in Utah and arrived in Fresno, CA. I took those down today and put up the yellow ribbon (made by my friend, Nancy Davis) on our tree for Christopher. He left at 7:30am yesterday for a long trip to Iraq. I got an email around 10am today telling me that he was in Germany. He will train in Kuwait for a week or more and then head to Iraq. He gave us some detailed information and I will have Geno print out a map of where he will be and make sure that we keep up with the news on anything happening in that area until he returns safe and sound next March.

When I was trying to figure out how to hang it, I noticed some leaves poking out from underneath the fall leaves that had gathered in my flower beds out front. I decided to get the rake and see what was under there.
To my surprise, there were hostas hiding under there that are going to be huge when the leaves finally start opening up. I do not have a green thumb, so anything that comes back on its own each year is a winner in my book!

I don't have a green thumb either, so I love hostas and bulbs. They're like magic plants every spring!
What a time of transition for your family - so many things changing at the same time. I, myself, just spent a year with my hubby on the east coast, so I know what you're in for. You have the right attitude. If you keep yourself busy and serve others you will be absolutely amazed at how quickly the time will fly by and how many blessings will come to everyone in your family. And what could be better than being an honorary grandma?! =)
